I keep having to pinch myself to remember that I’m not living in some futuristic, alternative universe but in real life.



This week, I present Miku Hatsune and her band Vocaloid. She is a Japanese rock sensation and there are a lot of reasons for her popularity. She is extremely versatile in her music and her look and she is absolutely untouchable.

Yes, that’s right, she’s a solid, three-dimensional hologram. There doesn’t seem to be much information on how this is done although speculation has led most people to believe that it is a series of projections on glass surfaces. Either way, I think this is the dawn of an age where companies need to pick up their feet when it comes to launches and presentations. Simply putting things up in Powerpoint presentations on big screens is not as awe inspiring as it used to be. 3D technology is available, usable and has become (surprisingly) affordable. It’s time to step up to the next level.
