How to Wheat Paste 101
In Part 1 we took a lok at the unique form of street art which is wheat pasting. Now get your hands dirty and mix up a batch with this recipe.
- Simply draw anything you want on any size of paper, or design something on your PC. Whatever tickles your fancy.
- Once you’re happy with your majestic art work, get it scanned to PC, preferably with a good scanner, not the one that comes free with you camera lens from Makro.
- Once scanned, take the file to your friendly neighbourhood print store and get them to print the image on a large piece of cheap paper. Even if your art work is sectioned off onto multiple pieces of paper, this will work. This can also makes it more fun, having large pieces of paper of your artwork, ready to place them out like a puzzle.
- For the wheat-paste-ala-king recipe, see this link.
So your tools are all ready and it’s time to go set your mark on the city. In the darkest hours of night, equip yourself with a kitchen broom, a bucket of wheat paste and wear an overall. It gets messy out there. With your art works in your backpack, simply find a wall you like in the city (of course legally find one...). Once you found your wall-canvas, SLAP your art work onto the wall, take the broomstick and dip it into the wheat past and STICK it onto the wall. Do this numerous times with different art works all over the city and become a street artist overnight.
